Tristream Energy is owned and operated by midstream experts who bring decades of industry experience and the mastery of hands-on engineering and operations understanding to each project.
Ken Purgason, President and CEO
Mr. Purgason has worked in all phases of the natural gas industry since 1976. He has extensive experience in energy-related acquisitions, divestments, and capital formation. His experience also includes the commercial side of natural gas gathering and processing, business development, and gas supply, as well as E&P planning and engineering.
Immediately prior to forming Tristream Energy, he was Co-founder, President and CEO of Sago Energy. He has also held positions with TPC Gathering and Transmission Company (formerly Tejas Power), Gulf Oil, Pacific Enterprises Oil Company and Enron.
Mr. Purgason is a member of the Houston Chapter of the Gas Processors Association and the Houston Producers' Forum. He is a former member of the National Board of Directors of the Gas Processors Association and serves on the board of trustees at Houston Christian High School.
Mr. Purgason holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Tony Catalano, Executive Vice President and COO
Mr. Catalano has worked in the energy industry since 1979. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of areas, including mergers and acquisitions, operations management, gas supply, business development, transportation, gas control, gas proration and regulatory matters, process engineering, corrosion engineering and production research.
Immediately prior to forming Tristream Energy, he was Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and COO of Sago Energy. He has also held positions at Chevron, Warren Petroleum, and Dynegy (formerly NGC Corporation).
Mr. Catalano is a licensed Professional Engineer (inactive) in Texas. He serves as a member of the University of Houston (UH) Cullen College of Engineering Leadership Board (ELB), and served as the 2010 ELB chair. Mr. Catalano has been an instructor in the UH Engineering Leadership & Entrepreneurism Program since 2006. He formerly served as a member and as Secretary of the UH Engineering Alumni Association Board, and was the Engineering representative on the University of Houston Alumni Association Council.
Mr. Catalano holds a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Cooper Union and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston.
Mike Urban, Vice President and CFO
Mr. Urban has worked in the energy industry since 1982. Immediately prior to forming Tristream Energy, he was CFO of Sago Energy.
His career includes extensive experience in accounting and financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, capital formation and structuring, risk management and strategic planning and execution.
Mr. Urban has held positions at Fortune Natural Resources Corporation, Norcen Explorer, Inc., and Pel-Tex Oil Company, and he has served on the board of directors of Community Bank of Texas in Katy, Texas. Prior to 1982, Mr. Urban was employed by Arthur Andersen & Co., where he primarily served the energy industry.
He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas and a member of the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA's.
Mr. Urban earned his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dan McVay, Vice President, Commercial and Business Development
Mr. McVay has worked in all areas of the midstream energy sector since 1976. He has experience in commercial operations, business development and strategic planning. He has managed gathering and processing and treating facilities in the Gulf coast, Permian Basin, Oklahoma as well as the Barnett and Haynesville Shale areas.
Mr. McVay has held senior level positions in several midstream companies including Warren Petroleum where he was responsible for gas gathering and processing as well directing their marine transportation fleet. He later joined Williams and led their Gulf coast division including Transco Pipeline's production area supply group. Prior to joining Tristream he was Senior Vice President at Crosstex Energy where he was the division head for the largest contract gas treating business in the industry.
Dan received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston. He is a board member of the North Texas Gas Processors Association.
